The Supply Point System ensures that all the necessary maintenance spares are available around the clock in a secure and controlled environment. Authorised maintenance staff can access spares and equipment at any time of day automatically booking the withdrawal to a job number or machine set. A large aspect of the system is that it minimises downtime of key production machines by the maintenance staff having the right spares at the right time at the right place. Savings on the spend of maintenance spares and consumables can be very significant. The minimum savings achieved using the Supply Point System has been 11% of the spares budget, more typically the savings are in the order of 20%, but figures as high as 50% have been achieved.
